FAQ

What audiophile grade outputs does the Reference 3 series have?

These systems have our award-winning AES-EBU output powered by the Baetis Audio Reference daughterboard with an EM shield. The daughterboard also provides a SPDIF output, now available as either BNC or RCA. system. HDMI for high resolution multi-channel output is also included. The SOtM USB and clock cards are included as standard, with custom made cabling that is better than the stock card’s own. The USB option can be removed for a rebate if not needed. Additional modular outputs can be added, including an audiophile network card and I2S output. Only one of the USB, I2S or network cards can be included if your system has a discrete graphics solution, because of the space the video card takes up in this case.

Can I run Roon on these models?

The SOtM Ultra USB package, with a clock card and cryo-silver cabling comes as standard. The USB solution can optionally be removed, added to or replaced with I2S or audiophile network options. The Reference 3 might come with a second power supply depending on whether a graphics solution is chosen.

Can I get the Reference 3 Series with an SOtM USB, or an I2S or network output?

In addition to the AES-EBU, SPDIF and HDMI outputs, you can opt to replace the SOtM USB solution with an I2S or network output for your DAC. Other custom combinations are available in pretty much any combination in the Reference 3 Series.

The Reference 3 – series is available with or without an internally-housed, tray-loading optical drive. These are available in options that include CD/DVD, BluRay and even 4K UHD.
